Assuming you've played Saturn's version of Darkstalkers' Revenge, you have access to the first game's color palletes.Īgreed with you on presention. It's fun to know it exists, but just like other iterations of SF2, this doesn't quite make the cut. In short they were very lazy attempts at doing some sort of turbo editions for Darkstalkers, but only with minor gameplay changes. But once again the subtle gameplay changes were rejected, so people went back to the original Vsav. Other than that it fine tunes a few things in Vsav, but ultimately were rejected by the community. They couldn't place all of the cast in one CPS2 due to memory issues. Missing the stages though, which sucks ass. Vampire Hunter 2 is basically Vsav as a base game (so Vsav's lifebars are present), but with the VHunter lineup and soundtracks. My favorite character Lei-Lei is there and that's more than enough to say in my opinion.Īs you said they're supposed to be updates.

And while I've yet to play each game in the series, I dare say Vampire Hunter: Darkstalker's Revenge is my favorite game in the series in terms of presentation. Someone please explain this anomaly to me. What purpose do they really serve, honestly? Just go and play the Sega Saturn port of Vampire Savior if you want a complete experience. Even with the arcade version of Vampire Savior missing characters like Pyron and Phobos, Vampire Savior 2 goes and removes characters like Gallon and Aulbath, so what's the point really? Was someone at Capcom high on drugs when they went and made these updates? It almost feels someone playing around making ROM hacks when they made Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2.
Vampire savior 2 artwork update#
I understand that they're supposed to be updates to their respective games, just like Street Fighter II Turbo was an update to Street Fighter II, but what's the point really? The Sega Saturn version of Vampire Savior is superior anyways considering it contains the full roster of characters.
